• Paddington LATM Scheme

Jamieson Foley and Northrop teamed to prepared design responses for Local Area Traffic Management measures for Hargraves Street and Cascade Street, Paddington. A number of measures were investigated in close consultation with Council. This included consideration of the 'naked street' concept.

The measures have been successfully implemented to discourage traffic utilising the Cross City Tunnel (in close vicinity).

  • Harbord Village Town Centre

Warringah Council is planning upgrade works to Harbord Village. The work will combine traffic management, stormwater treatment and aesthetic features to activate the Town Centre. Northrop has worked closely with Landscape Architects to integrate engineering features with the overall objectives to revitalise the Public Domain.

Rainwater gardens are one initiative of the project. Simple detailing is being considered for the landscaping to treat and drain road runoff at regular intervals along the kerb. The facility is intended to be low maintenance and contribute toward reducing stormwater pollutant loads emanating from the township.

  • Sparks Road / Albert Warner Drive, Intersection Upgrade, Warnervale

Development of Lakes Grammar - An Anglican School (on the NSW Central Coast), required augmentation of the existing intersection of Albert Warner Drive and Sparks Road. The upgrade works were required to improve the safety of the increasing volume of pedestrians, bicycle-users and traffic, and to enable easy bus access.

Northrop Engineers provided services to drive the design of traffic improvement measures and liaison with the RTA and Council to ensure design and documentation was comprehensive to facilitate a smooth approval process.

  • Woolwich Dock Entry Road & Carpark

Northrop is responsible for civil and stormwater design for the proposed upgrade and expansion of the existing carpark at Woolwich Dock (Clarkes Point Reserve). We have been instrumental in developing stormwater management strategies to complement landscaping. This includes landscape drainage swales and bioretention gardens to treat stormwater prior to collection for re-use (by Council) or discharge to the harbour.

  • Five Dock LATM Scheme

Jamieson Foley led a team including Northrop Engineers and Dr Chloe Mason. The project developed a comprehensive Local Area Traffic Management Plan for the Five Dock Town Centre and surrounding residential precincts. Concept engineering designs were developed following extensive stakeholder liaison, workshops and one-to-one meetings with 3 schools, crash investigation, speed and volume analysis.

Canada Bay Council has recently allocated funding for construction of some of the recommended facilities.

  • Port Macquarie - Area 13

Northrop has provided key planning advice for the future Port Gateway arterial road through Port Macquarie - Area 13. The initial stage of Area 13 (Sovereign Hills Town Centre) has involved realignment of the existing Oxley Highway - feeding from the Pacific Highway to the heart of Port Macquarie.

Options and costs for arterial road planning and existing road realignment were developed by Northrop in consultation with the RTA to accommodate key links to Port Macquarie through the Area 13 land release.
