This purpose built industrial facility has been designed for three separate enterprises. The facility comprises of three buildings including; Building 1 - a warehousing facility of 11500m2 and a two storey office building. Building 2 - a factory of 6700m2 and an office building. Building 3 - a warehouse of 3700m2 and a two storey office building. A large portion of the site consisted of suspended post tensioned deck, designed for warehousing and heavy vehicle use. Building 2 involved the incorporation of the specific structural requirements for materials handling equipment and a heavy engineering foundation for a 2500 tonne press.
Northrop provided structural engineering services for the design of a new workshop and maintenance facility for Downer EDI mining services at Christmas Creek in the East Pilbera region of Western Australia. The structure consisted of a steel framed workshop, 120m long by 25m wide and 20m high and supports a 50 Tonne crane spanning 30m, and a 15 Tonne crane travelling a length of 75m to service mining machinery. Attached to the workshop is an additional 1500m2 of light vehicle workshops, storage and office accommodation. The structure comprises of over 450 tonnes of structural steelwork.
Northrop performed a feasibility assessment for utility infrastructure and stormwater provisions to service upgrade of the Southern Precinct of Lakes Business Park, Botany. The Master Plan incorporated proposal for office buildings up to five storeys - leading to potentially significant increases in demands to servicing mains.
Northrop recommended strategies to encourage ecologically sustainable development principles and minimise impact on existing Authority supply services.
This new industrial facility for Toyota included a 14,000m2 warehouse and 2,800m2 of office space for two attached buildings. Northrop provided structural engineering services which included fibre reinforced slabs and gantry cranes within the warehouse.
The project is valued at $8M.
This project, situated in the North Ryde commercial area, involved the total transformation of a 40 year old factory building. Two levels of offices and an additional level of carparking were built over the existing concrete structure. The building now comprises 2 levels of modern A grade office space, a high bay warehouse at ground floor and two levels of parking. Interestingly, the structure has been designed for two additional future storeys, with all this extra load being supported on the original foundations.
Northrop provided contract services for this major excavation project for warehouse development in Chatswood.
As Superintendent's Representative, Northrop acted on behalf of the developer to prepare all tender/contract documents, administer/assess tenders and manage the construction process.
Northrop's Central Coast office provided the structural engineering for this $10M project at Mayfield West. The development provides 1500m2 of column free display space, relying on steel trusses designed by Northrop to span 36m. The rest of the development includes 1600m2 of office space over two levels, as well as a separate service centre adjoining the site.
Northrop has provided comprehensive civil and hydraulic design services to direct site planning, detailed design and support construction. Northrop rose to the challenge to maintain the heavy emphasis on cutting edge ESD principles.
Northrop has been instrumental in incorporating leading edge technology to provide potable water supply from treated rainfall runoff. Rainwater is the primary source of supply for all potable uses in this 200-person office and production facility.
