Park Sydney, Erskineville - Stage 1

Park Sydney is an urban renewal project, located in the inner-city suburb of Erskineville. Delivered in seven stages, and over 6.9 hectares, the residential community will feature nine development blocks ranging in height from two to eight storeys and will ultimately be home to approx. 1,400 apartments. Stage 1, completed in late 2020, consists of 330 apartments spread over two blocks (Buildings B and C).

Classified as one of the largest masterplanned projects in Sydney, the project’s challenges encompassed the scale of the site as well as coordination between many different consultants. The basement construction in very soft contaminated ground with high groundwater levels and large in-ground services (Transgrid, Sydney Desalination Pipe, heritage substation), also required innovative engineering designs – working closely with our developer client and the builder (Richard Crookes Constructions), we explored cost-effective solutions for the basement design. Also included in Stage 1 is an onsite childcare centre, internal recreation park with basement below, and 5000sqm of retail offering, including an impressive Woolworths Metro (1,600sqm with internal timber ceilings and external complex cantilever arches).

The Northrop team are currently working on subsequent stages.
