Callum Awarded Consult Australia Silver Future Leader Award

Currently employed as the Canberra Electrical Manager and having been appointed as an Associate of Northrop, Callum has a natural affinity for leadership. Subscribing to a very hands on approach, Callum supports his team members, and equips them for success through on the job experience and professional training opportunities.

Callum graduated from The University of Adelaide with a double degree in Engineering (Electrical/Electronic Engineering) (Honours) and Science (Mathematical and Computer Science), and is dedicated to pursuing ongoing personal and professional development. He strives to maintain balance between the technical and the administrative, enjoying opportunities to 'get his hands dirty' with the team.

Moving forward, Callum would like to become a trusted advisor to the Board and shareholders of Northrop, assisting in the direction and running of the company, and also aims to become a shareholder to further contribute to the company's future direction. He'd also like to spend more time exploring new ways to work with clients, which are both financially savvy and increasingly sophisticated, technically.

Callum is involved in Northrop internal committees, and has presence in both state and national industry committees, with an emphasis on young professionals in the engineering space. He established and now Chairs the local FutureNet program; has attended and presented at various career days and industry functions; and believes that it is the responsibility of all engineers to highlight the validity and variety of a career in engineering and technical consultancy with today's youth.

Callum believes we should be highlighting to graduates that consultancy is a really exciting, rewarding career with great diversity. In a very real sense it's an opportunity to shape the world you live in.

"Consultants have the opportunity to think about how, as an industry, we approach power and energy differently, to limit the risk and impact of failure. We can have good working plans, but we should also have the options available that are future-looking".

Northrop is an owner managed private engineering consultancy firm employing 180 people across 7 offices in NSW, ACT and QLD. The unique owner managed structure ensures senior involvement in every project, leading to efficient and award winning engineering solutions.
